HELP Logistics recently joined the 2024 Sustainable Food Forum and the Leadership and Partnership Conference, hosted by the Vietnam FoodBanking Network, to address food waste and promote sustainable food systems in Vietnam.
The Leadership and Partnership Conference united 22 local food banks to exchange insights, learn from sector experts, and discuss best practices. HELP Logistics contributed by presenting on logistics and supply chain strategies that can drive transformative improvements in food banking operations. From advancements in vehicle routing and cold chain logistics to improved warehouse management, HELP Logistics shared practical approaches to reducing food waste and increasing the reach of surplus food to vulnerable communities.
A central theme at the conference was the challenge of managing the “surprise chain”—the unpredictable supply and demand inherent in food bank operations. Effective logistics are essential to overcoming these challenges, enabling food banks to operate smoothly despite variable resources.
The Sustainable Food Forum, held in Ho Chi Minh City, brought together stakeholders from across the food industry, academia, and the NGO sector. Participants explored pressing issues around food sustainability, from waste reduction and achieving Net Zero targets to securing nutritious food for urban and rural populations. Discussions highlighted Vietnam’s potential to collaborate with global partners and leverage modern agricultural technologies to minimize environmental impacts and ensure long-term food security.
Both events underscored the importance of cross-sector collaboration, showcasing inspiring examples from local communities and international projects. HELP Logistics remains committed to fostering efficient and sustainable food systems, empowering food banks to meet community needs and drive positive impact.
