South-East Asia, like the rest of the planet, faces the risks of interconnected and complex natural disasters. The region is vulnerable to the effects and consequences of climate change, such as rising sea levels, temperature rise, more extreme weather events with higher frequency, and higher risks of public health emergencies and food crises.
To prepare for a more complex and uncertain future, humanitarian organisations must exchange best practices, research, expertise, and share resources. A platform that facilitates and enables this collaboration and knowledge exchange is the Humanitarian Futures Forum 2022, organised by the Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre (RHCC) and S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS).
During the forum, HELP Logistics drew upon years of experience with providing technical assistance, training, and operational research to international organisations across the region, to inform discussions on supply chain trends and best practices to better prepare and mitigate loss in humanitarian response operations.
The forum brought together local and international participants from the military, government agencies, academia, civil society and the private sector. The information gathered at this forum will help strengthen support systems for policy planners and decision-makers on ways to better prepare for and respond to humanitarian challenges now and in the future.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief Coordination Centre (RHCC) and S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS) for the invitation and for the opportunity to contribute to this platform.
