HELP Logistics, IFRC, and KLU Formalize Internship Partnership Following Years of Successful Collaboration

Reinforcing Commitment to Developing the Next Generation of Humanitarian Logistics Talent.

HELP Logistics, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and Kühne Logistics University (KLU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), formalizing their collaboration under the HELP-KLU Internship Program. This agreement marks an important step in enhancing career pathways for young logistics talent in the humanitarian sector.

Highlighting the significance of this agreement Jonas Stumpf, Regional Director for HELP Logistics Europe said: “Investing in young professionals is key to strengthening humanitarian logistics for the future. By formalizing our collaboration with IFRC, we are ensuring that the next generation of logistics experts gains the practical skills and experience needed to improve global supply chains in times of crisis.”

Over the past years, KLU interns contributed to IFRC’s global logistics efforts through placements in Budapest, Panama, and Geneva. These interns have supported supply chain optimization projects, and enhanced logistics coordination for humanitarian aid distribution.

"Based on the success of our past collaboration, we are pleased to formally integrate this partnership into our talent development strategy," said Cecile Terraz, Director of the Supply Chain Management department, IFRC. "The HELP-KLU Internship has already demonstrated its value in strengthening humanitarian logistics, and we look forward to welcoming more skilled professionals into our operations."

"Since its inception in 2013, the HELP-KLU Internship has provided students with opportunities to apply their knowledge in real-world humanitarian logistics. The official signing of this MOU by IFRC is a testament to KLU’s pursuit of social impact and the vital contributions young professionals make to humanitarian operations," said Professor Maria Besiou, Professor of Humanitarian Logistics at KLU.

This partnership underscores the shared commitment of HELP Logistics, IFRC, and KLU to fostering a skilled and future-ready workforce capable of meeting the evolving demands of humanitarian logistics
